False Bay College Success Story

FALSE BAY COLLEGE EMBRACES BLENDED LEARNING

False Bay College started their eLearning journey in 2008. The college embarked on a combined project with all six colleges in the Western Cape. This project set out to develop content specific courses and share this amongst the colleges. False Bay College made the strategic decision to include eLearning into their operational plan. This led to several strategic objectives for the college, with a key focus on incorporating blended learning into the teaching and learning strategy.

The three key strategies developed included a student support programme, the establishment of Open Learning Centers (Libraries) at each campus and the development of an eLearning department and plan. Consequently, resources were made available, both financial and human, for the development of each of these areas.

False Bay College invested in an enterprise Learning Management System (LMS) supported by Eiffel Corp. False Bay TVET College’s  customised LMS, known as MyFBC, is available on all campuses.
