Honest Student Feedback on Online Learning

We Asked Students, And This is What They Said:

We asked students what their experience with online learning has been like. This is what they had to say:

“In some ways, the switch to online teaching and learning robbed some students of their on-campus experience. It also takes a lot more self-discipline as opposed to being accountable to a lecture and attending class.”

“Learning new technology was a challenge for many.”

What didn’t work?

“I think being a student that had to transition from physical learning to online, the difficulty came with the lack of stimulation of not having your peers to attend classes, tutorials and sharing ideas with them.

“Some modules really also needed physical interaction with lectures to better understand concepts.”

“Dealing with slow laptops and cellphones so connectivity was also a factor in getting the maximum expected learning outcomes.”

“More interactiveness from facilitators would have definitely made it better.”

What did work?

“What did work in a way, was some one-on-one zoom sessions with lecturers and tutors.”

“Some time saving – less rush to get to class physically.”

“Upskilling for the job space of the future.”
